Our Puropse
Our vision is to build a community where all people are valued and respected for who they are.
Our mission is to create a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for the LGBTQIA+ community and allies in the West Georgia area through community outreach, education, advocacy, and engagement.
Our purpose is to provide comprehensive support for the LGBTQIA+ community in West Georgia, to empower them to live authentically and express themselves freely without fear of discrimination or judgment and to foster confidence and pride in their identity, their community and their shared cultural history.
Our Story: It all started with a picnic.
In July 2021, Lucy created the Carrollton Rainbow Facebook group. The original idea was to have a private social media group for LGBTQIA+ community members and allies to have a safe space for discussing issues, planning events and making friends. As the group grew organically and the world started to normalize, a few people met to discuss the possibility of making PRIDE happen.
In October 2022, Carrollton Rainbow Inc became an official 501c3 nonprofit organization and the second Carrollton PRIDE event took place with the help of our friends at 4AM Coffee Roasters Cafe and a few church sponsorships to cover costs.
What started as a simple idea for a community picnic has now become a vision to build a community where all people are valued and respected for who they are and mission to create a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for the LGBTQIA+ community and allies in the Carrollton, Georgia area through community outreach, education, advocacy, and engagement.
